Daily Photo: Where Did the World Go?

Where did the world go?

Giuseppe the Singing Window Washer does his best to clean the window, but this time it’s not working. The Five think it’s pretty serious when what’s happening outside blocks their window. Mimi turns around and heads back for the furnace vent when I open the door. I know it’s well below zero when the back door is this frosted. I’m thinking of all the insects overwintering in my garden that won’t survive this. I’ll take another day or two, please, just to be sure.

And Farewell

…to sweet MacKenzie, 19-year-old kitty who lived with a good friend and transitioned to a new existence.

MacKenzie was a former feral, trapped with a large colony in Pittsburgh all the way back in 1996, right about the beginning of the big efforts at TNR and managing colonies of cats. She was considered unadoptable, yet her human visited her during volunteer shifts at the shelter and despite plans to keep MacKenzie at a sanctuary in a cage for the rest of her life, they let her adopt the kitty. Kenzie had a good long life as the leader of the household, despite the “unadoptable” tag. We took her to be cremated today, and said a long goodbye.

You’ll hear more about MacKenzie’s rescue and rehabilitation sometime soon.

    • Rumpydog, Amby and I are sure she had the leavetaking she chose, and we were so glad she could have it her way.
