Daily Photo: Watching and Reflecting

Reflecting and Watching.
Reflecting and Watching.

I saw Bella’s silhouette reflected in the glass of the framed photo that hangs behind my computer monitor in my office. Looking at her shape and the reflection, I realized I had no idea where she was sitting because I couldn’t see her anywhere, not an ear, or a tail, or a whisker. I turned around and saw the bird feeder and tree, but looked all over my desk and the area, but no Bella. Then she shifted her position slightly and in so doing leaned far enough forward for me to see her nose just past the far edge of my monitor. Part of me thinks she had found some sort of portal and had left only her reflection in the glass! But I digress, and found an interesting plot for a short story, which got me started watching and reflecting, just like Bella….thanks, beautiful kitties, for providing all sorts of inspiration!

Apparently four cats have melted and fused into one cuddle puddle while sleeping in front of the furnace vent all afternoon.

Of course I took photos of my cats on Saturday, but as much as I miss blogging and sharing photos over the weekend sometimes when I have an event or an assignment I don’t always have the time or the space in my head to post. Sometimes I like to spend a day away from the computer too, and play with my cats :).

On Saturday, Veteran’s Day, I photographed the dedication of my library’s new flagpole. The event included people from the library, the local American Legion, several veterans, the Civil War reenactors, and the family of the man who donated the flagpole and flag to the library, a veteran himself. I enjoy photographing events, skimming around through the crowd to get the best angles on all the activities and participants as well as getting candids of people. Here is a sample photo, and please visit Veterans Day Flag Pole Dedication Ceremony for more.

What other photos have I shared on or around this date?

World Kindness Day, Or Is It a Trick, 2016
I'll share this box...
I’ll share this box…

Bean looks kind and consoling to Mewsette, an arm around her shoulder, offering to share the most favorite box of the week. But don’t be fooled—Mewsette was happily bathing and preparing for a bath in the box when Bean came along and unseated her most rudely, and a catfight erupted that was slow and lazy and fun to watch. I’ve been trying to edit about a half dozen photos from this sequence and one of thee days I’ll post them all in order because I’m still laughing.

But being kind to each other is still a good idea.

Today’s photo shoot features Mimi with another brand new item: a little clay pendant impressed with my brush pen sketch “Back to Front”, which is today’s daily sketch as well. I’ve finally assembled the November Feline Sampler Box, and this little item was the holdup to let things dry completely, but it was well worth the wait. I have added this to Portraits of Animals. I’ll probably have a new product each day for the next month. We’ve been busy making a mess!

Mimi did NOT want to hold still but she did for just one photo wearing my latest little gift item, a clay pendant impeessed with one of my brush pen sketches.

I have to say, I do like it, Mr. Sunshine, subtle, almost abstract. I have some talented cats here. I do like the photos that show all the assets of my beautiful cats, but I also like the abstract shots that happen to have a cat in them in a very artful way. Read more and purchase.
