Daily Photo: They’ve Got a Thing Going On

two black cats on afghan
This is often what I find.

Bella LOVES the wool granny afghan. When she’s not watching birds or spending time in the kitchen or studio with us, this is usually where I find her.

And often, lately, I find Bean too. The two of them cuddle with Bean using Bella as a pillow, and they sleep all afternoon. Even when I go to pet them, the spell is not broken and they barely acknowledge me.

Smokie is much bolder and hangs around the big guy, Giuseppe and they manage the household feline duties as G often supervises me or watches the neighborhood. Bean is not so occupied. After a vigorous play session in the morning and evening, he sleeps. And sleeps.

What other photos have I posted on or around this date? (I’ve missed a few days of this!)

Today’s Supervisors, 2013

Mr. Sunshine and Mewsette keep me covered and under control.

Not even when I decide to work for a while at the kitchen table do I get away from the constant supervision of my felines. I didn’t catch any of the conversation between Mr. Sunshine and Mewsette as they positioned themselves for maximum coverage but I did not get the opportunity to move until I was done with the proofreading I had in hand.

Really, I think Mr. Sunshine was more interested in my cool red pen.

Avant Garde, 2013

Sunshine looking avant garde.

Mr. Sunshine wanted to look a little more modern so we have an avant garde sort of tilted black and white shot so he looks kind of cool. It’s all about Mr. Sunshine today (but then, he really is exceptionally handsome, not that I think he’s more handsome than his brothers, but…), see below.

Who’s That Cat in My Bathroom?, 2013

“Who’s that black cat in the mirror?”

Giuseppe talks at his own reflection in the mirror…well, we all have days when we don’t recognize ourselves in the bathroom mirror.

Life Imitates Art, 2013

Art imitates life; Sunshine imitates Namir.

Mr. Sunshine loved his fur brother Namir, who had the same clever nature. The other day he posed, not only by a print of a painting of Namir, but also by a box of Clementines. I think he’s trying to hint that I ought to do a painting of him in homage to Namir. The painting of Namir is below.

But the night before that, as if he wanted to draw my attention to the situation I turned from my desk to see him intently staring at me…

How could I miss him?

…so I went into the kitchen to take the best photo I could get, at night, with difficult light. “Don’t I look nice in this box?” he aksed. What an opportunist–I had moved the actual Clementines from the box to the fruit bowl, but left it there to put to use for merchandise later. “I’m sweeter than any Clementine, anyway!”

When We Put Our Heads Together…We Have a Good Nap, 2013
three black cats
They’ve put their heads together; should I be worried?

I don’t think the boys plan out these fantastic positions in which I find them, but I guess if you put three cats together in a pile for 18 hours a day they are going to organize themselves into a recognizable pattern.

But that’s for me to enjoy. They are busy napping, and that’s serious business. They’ve done it before…click here to see. And as you’ll see below, this date is pretty popular for putting your head together with your brothers, or just hanging with your brothers, anywhere will do, until your sister stops by.

Bella and Bean, Smokie and Giuseppe… it is nice to see the kids getting along with the big ninjas.

    • They are devoted, Maru, especially now that they are older and getting independent!

How sweet they look cuddled together..Smokie hanging with big Giuseppe reminds me of my new little orange guy Lil’ Tiger..the Vet said he is undersize & underweight but he loves to hang with Mr Chang..my tuxedo guy and the biggest cat I have ever had..they look kind of comical together because of their sizes but they love wrestling & playing chase..if Mr Chang can’t find little Tiger he walks around the house calling for him..

    • Bluemoonalone, that is too cute! Does Lil Tiger hide from him too? I think it’s hysterical when I see Smokie chasing Giusseppe. I hope Lil Tiger can put on some weight and grow a bit, but sometimes they stay small.

Lil’ Tiger hides and then jumps out and grabs hold of Mr Chang..but if he waits to long Chang starts calling for him..also if Tiger falls asleep somewhere and Chang can’t find him..I have recently got Tiger on the scale and he actually gained over a pound since his last visit to his Vet..He has grown some too but he is still way smaller than Chang..He is a very big kitty..when I pick Mr Chang up it’s like picking up a toddler..He also has a 16″ long tail..When he walks past the coffee table or end tables he can clear them off with on swipe of that tail..lol..

        • Wow, Chang has quite the presence! Lil Tiger is lucky for such a ninja!
