We all touch the lead dove.

We were all invited to touch the dove as their gentle keeper cupped the lead dove in his and and walked around to each of us. When we were done touching her, he walked a few steps away, leaned down and whispered something to her, then lifted his hands and she spread her wings and was off.

When she’d circled once he opened the cage where all the rest of the doves were quietly and patiently waiting, and out they came, swooping and circling as a group among the trees circling around behind us and back to their home.

I’ll be writing up this year’s event with remarks from all the speakers and possibly posting my remarks separately. I will also be composing the 2013 Tribute Scroll to include all the pets who were remembered at the event whose persons wanted them to be remembered. Click here to read a review of the program from previous years, and click here to read my previous remarks. Click here to see other Tribute Scrolls.

  • This is sweet. This is a great tribute to all our furry friends who have loved us unconditionally. It’s hard to lose a pet. It takes time to heal. We need to grieve in order to move on but moving on doesn’t mean we have to forget them. They are etched in our hearts and for as long as we live, they will always be remembered.

    • And don’t worry about my name–you should see what’s been done to it, not to mention pronunciation. I removed your last name, and truly the only way to control how it appears is to have an online profile where you’ve set it up, but I think you have the option of entering your first name, or any name you want. Thanks again. I’m all misty and about to write about a sweet encounter today. It must be I’m still in that place of yesterday.

  • Hello, I’ve wanted to reach out to you since April 5, 2013. This is the day I lost my beautiful “Goddess”, and best friend for more than 18 short years. Angel, my tortie was “Humanly Euthanized”, on this day. In my numbness and unbearable pain I desperatly searched the internet for sites where I would find someone such as yourself -The Creative Cat- who possess the understanding and the deep love that our feline family members give to us. Ms. Kazmaski, I found you & so much more than I could ever had hoped for.I found your Goodess. My tears started to flow the moment I saw her. This is My Goddess, too. Your words, and your variety of beatiful images have made me laugh out loud and sometimes have overwhelmed me with deep sadness and joy for all of the amazing work you do to help our helpless and innocent furry loves. I would like to thank you from thd bottom of my heart and soul for you’d gentld spirit and selflessness. May you always and in all ways be be blessed and cared for by all of “The Goddesses”. With fond thoughts of you, Angel & her lonely Mamma, Denise

  • What a lovely.. n supportive.. ceremony for anyone still missing a little one/little ones who’ve gone on ahead.
Grieving, for a pet, especially, can be such a lonely experience.
Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.

    • Annie, the best part is being with so many others of like mind. Even me, when I write about my losses and memories all the time, really benefit from that community.
