Daily Photo: Strange Doughnut-shaped Formation
I looked up to see a strange doughnut-shaped object lying on my desk, covering most of the free space and not moving.
Seen from above it seemed to be made of black cat fur but characteristics were difficult to distinguish, was it one very long black cat? On closer inspection it appeared to be two cats linked together at the head and feet.
It could be something useful. Was it perhaps another variation on Unicat Keyboard Rest?
It put the keyboard a little too far from me for comfort if that was its purpose.
Perhaps a place to put my tablet with notes as I was writing?
It actually works really well for that! But just as I began to turn the page…
Really? Do you have to do this?
I’m just having a little fun guys. Don’t humans deserve to play once in a while too?

Finally last night Mimi came up to the studio to spend time with me once again. One by one the other four joined me as well over the past week and today all of us were together in my studio for the first time since last Tuesday. They are very sensitive.

What other photos did I feature around this date?
Doesn’t Everyone Have a Pile of Black Cats on the Kitchen Table?, 2013
And they look so natural there, the Fantastic Four, Mr. Sunshine in front, then Mewsette, then Guiseppe stretched out of the box and Bean using him for a pillow.
I took the Lazy Susan out of the middle to use the table, but apparently I was mistaken in my intent. They had planned a day-long nap and moved right in as if they’d been waiting for me to clear the table. What you see is about ten minutes after they settled in, looking as if they’ve already been there all day.
“Perish the thought, Mama Bernadette, the table is ours now.”
The box did not get moved and was put to use; more on that box, or what’s left of it, in the next day or two.
“We know you moved the old brown table out and replaced it with this white one so you’d get better photos of us.” Apparently they’ve been reading The Creative Cat…
Well, the table is enamel, so it’s nice and cool on a hot day, and just the right size for all four with just a little to spare. What was I thinking anyway?
“You have the whole house to work in, can’t you find another place when we want to sleep?”
An echo of what I’ve been known to say to them…but I got little bit of revenge when I tortured them with pets and kisses and my camera and a sketch…later.

A Day for Dreaming, 2012
Cool, quiet, misty, dark; after a series of hot days with fans running 24/7 and everything seeming louder than normal, we had a day of rest today. Mimi is still ensconced as Queen of the White Box, each of her children stopping by for an audience, and a mutual face wash and nap, with the Queen. Mimi watches me while Mewsette ponders…what Mewsette ponders, the light from the north window reflecting from the trees tinting the scene with a serenity of green.
Below, I used the Cutout filter and then filled in odd areas to flatten the background and removed other areas of color so that Mimi’s eyes would be the first thing to see.

Loafing, 2011
Don’t they look like two loaves of something? Mewsette and Jelly Bean hang out on the landing.
It’s cool enough for normal hanging out for the first time in days—no one needs to find a fan to lie under—so they are loafing together again in twos and threes and even fours, judging by the situation when I woke up today. For as much as the Fantastic Four love to be together, it must be difficult to keep a distance because of the heat. When a friend came to visit today and one settled on his briefcase, another came over and laid on top!

Cats Purred Me to Sleep…at My Desk, 2010
As part of their campaign to make sure I sat still and stayed home for a while, Dickie and Mr. Sunshine simply monopolized my desk, dozing and sleeping, purring in a most luxurious tone, hoping I would catch the hint.
I did, after at least trying to sort through photos last night, but suddenly awakening at my desk with a warm purring Cookie on my lap and other cats in the vicinity keeping guard, perhaps making sure I didn’t fall off my chair. It was a long day with packing and unpacking merchandise twice at the Artisan Market, then again when I got it back to my shop, and it was a little warm yesterday, and it was a long week. We all decided to just go to bed. We’re catching up today.
