Daily Photo: Someone Needed Attention
Mimi told me she needed some attention, now that I’m not running around the house with my hands full all day, which meant that I could pet her any time she was ready. I didn’t follow the rules, though, when I decided to pay too much attention to a couple of apples, but she solved that by getting in there with the apples, despite my personal goals with the apples. I managed to distract her to move from the scene while I worked, but just when I set down the sketch to close up my pastel container she nimbly leaped over it, threatening to land on it, knock over my pastels and knock the apples on the floor, signaling that I had spent enough time on the apples and not enough time on her. Cats can walk all over my keyboard, but messing up my art stuff is really pushing it.
And not only that, but, “There is no cat in this painting, so it is clearly a failure.”
I had learned my lesson so next we went up to my studio because Mimi loves my studio and races me up the stairs. Of course, I was not to begin working right away as Mimi had a point to make with me. Having a thorough bath in the very spot where I would be working is Mimi’s passive-aggressive method of making sure I will pay adequate attention to her by taking as much of my time as she wants.
Finally, she is happy with the situation and ready for a nap.
You can see the non-feline sketch I dared to make to day on my blog Today.

Georgia and Julie, Mimi is the boss!
Look at her pretty collar. Maybe she knows it matches the color of the apples!
Hey, Gang, it’s two of her favorite colors–apple green and hot pink! The bells on the two breakaway collars she used to wear were tinted pink and apple green to match, so I added them to this collar and she’s all decked out.
