Daily Photo: Smokie Toes

Smokie toes!
Smokie toes!

Smokie has a goood stretch and shows all of his toes!

He’s enjoying the sun on the wardrobe at the top of the stairs, his favorite morning spot. It seems his bath is much more successful if he does it here. All that fur!

And now…the nap.

Easy “Sun”-day, 2014

I wasn’t the only one subject to the effects of sunshine and spring happenings. The dining room window was full of sun all afternoon; the river birch that shades the window all summer hasn’t leafed out yet so Giuseppe, Bean and Mewsette were indulging in a little thermonuclear massage. There wasn’t so much as an ear-flick among them for quite some time, whole minutes.

Birds were at the feeder and in the spruce, the squirrel was running around underneath picking up seeds along with chipmunks, and robins were busy flipping over the leaf litter and pine needles to find the goodies underneath so Mimi joined them too, for a little birdwatching.

Don’t Touch That Mailbox!, 2012

My neighbor’s calico cat makes sure her mail is delivered properly!

I often see my neighbor’s calico kitty looking out the windows of the enclosed front porch as I walk by on my way to Main Street. She’s truly a neighborhood guard cat! Finally the light was right on an overcast morning to catch her photo without glare on the glass, and it turns out to be one of the days when she’s guarding the mailbox, my favorite pose. I’d think twice before messing with her!

Of course, she probably has her buddy the serious brown dog, who I also often see in the porch, do her dirty work, as she seems like a true Queen Cat. I can just imagine her telling the dog, “Of with her head!” I’m on foot, I’d better get away while I can.
