Daily Photo Reprise: It’s All About Mr. Sunshine
I use copies of both of my 2013 calendars around my house. In my studio, I turned the page in “Compositions in Black and Green” and saw silly Mr. Sunshine with his characteristic head tilt in a very popular photo, and several other similar silly photos, including one of him as a tiny baby cat. He thought I should share these images today, as if he doesn’t get enough attention here already!
This is a private party for ‘Cats Who Drink Straight from the Tap’. You need to be a member of this club to enter.
This is my bathroom.
This is our bathroom. We grew up in here.
This is my house.
Nonsense. We spend more time here than you do.
I’m your human.
That’s nice.
I open the food.
Of course you do.
I might decide not to.
Of course you won’t.
Who turns on the faucet for this party?
Silence.
Guess you have to let me in.
I was going to anyway.
Sure.
Stay tuned for a vintage dose of cuteness…
From the Archives: May I See Some ID? 2007
So he not only has a little bit of practice at this head-tilt thing, he’s also sitting in nearly exactly the same spot!
Right now the vintage mint green sink is to your left as you walk in the door, flush in the corner, but when they were babies the end of the tub was in that corner. It really was a favorite ambush spot! When the bathroom was completely rearranged and my sink ended up there, Mr. Sunshine just “got a raise” because he still does this today!
But to put him in perspective, he is at about 8 weeks old, just about exactly five years younger, in fact, and here is what the little fuzzball looked like when I walked into the room…
To see other photos of the Fantastic Four as babies, search Curious Quartet, which is what I called them as kittens.
Daily Photo: Mr. Sunshine, Twice as Cute
He’s got that head tilt down to an absolute science.
I have an older mirror on the bathroom door and if one of them is sitting on the end of the cabinet they are perfectly reflected.
You can also see Jelly Bean being twice as cute…
This Sink Doesn’t Match My Eyes
He’s right, too. I could have made a better choice when I chose the fixtures for this bathroom, considering they were already family members (they were about 18 months when I remodeled) and I could see this mint green was nothing like their eye color, especially not Mr. Sunshine’s eyes.
But humans have their own motivations, and I love Mr. Sunshine’s expressions! He looks handsome no matter what.
This photo was never featured here on The Creative Cat, though I’ve used it for merchandise, such as a tote bag and a tee a couple of years ago.

You’ve got that right!
What is with the head tilt? We have never seen that behavior before. It makes Mr. Sunshine extra cute, but then we love, love, love black kitties. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
Janet, you’ve never seen the head tilt? It’s the ultimate in feline (and canine) manipulation. Would you not give him anything he asked for? He knows it too!
So cute!
My human, despite her having no more voice because of a cold, managed to make some kind of “awwwww” sound after seeing Tiny Mr. Sunshine!

Tiny Mr. Sunshine could do that to people. Thanks, Texas, and to your mom!
