Daily Photo: Now, and Then, Some Things Never Change, 2008, 2014

The other day I photographed a wonderful series of black cats with lace curtain (and beginning a sketch along with them) as well as Mewsette and Mimi in one of their two-level wrestling matches, Mewsette on the wardrobe and Mimi plotting behind the lace curtain. Later I went digging through older photos from April 2008 when the kitties were getting to be cattens and Mimi was finally letting go of her role as a mom cat to see if there was anything cute to be posted from the archives. I happened to notice a series of photos of a two-level wrestling match between Mimi and Mewsette! I actually hadn’t realized they’d begun this when Mewsette was only nine months old! Everything is about the same, but none of the plants made the transition from life with seniors to life with kittens, but even Mimi and Mewsette look the same along with the wardrobe, the windowsill and the lace curtain.

The photo above is from 2008 with Mimi trying to camouflage herself with the lace curtain, below are three from Mimi’s big plot to ambush Mewsette the other morning. First, Mimi cleverly hides behind the curtain, sort of.

Heh heh heh.

Then she measures the distance to Mewsette, and of course Mewsette has no idea what Mimi is planning…

“When you’re little, you have to use every advantage,” Mimi says.

Then she pushes aside the curtain and takes aim…

SMACK!

…and lands one on Mewsette’s forehead!

“Some things never change,” says Mewsette.

Back to 2008, Mewsette wears a patient expression, the same as she does today. “Some things never change,” she says. Mewsette didn’t take it lying down but always gives her mom a fair fight.
