Daily Photo: Morning in the Back Yard
Mimi and I decided to go out into the back yard first thing in the day instead of last, partly because we haven’t been getting there for the past few days. Mimi took some time to look over her realm, not entirely too happy about it I would guess.
Of course, she had to get in a good scratch on her tree, the one that leans down to the ground just for her.
The morning was warm and a little bit wet, but the forsythia was blooming and one of the vintage daffodils was about to open up.
Later in the Day
Hamlet has been joining the group at mealtimes to get in my face and make sure I know my priorities. He just appeared on my drafting table in the studio and stood there waving his tail so I reached out to pet him. No ducking, no cringing, he just enjoyed it. Then he sat down and looked at me.
Because I was not done with my work, he decided to have a nap right there.

Silhouettes and Highlights, 2015
Jelly Bean’s nose.
Jelly Bean is the star of this set of photos, also from yesterday, a lovely sunny morning just right for photographing black cats, and Jelly Bean’s pensive stillness. While all my other models were bathing or watching out the window or watching me, Bean was quietly about his own meditation.
Above and below are two of just his profile in silhouette or near silhouette.
I really like his graceful curve as he leans into the sunlight.
Just a silhouette.
And here is another slideshow, not so many as in previous days but probably more variations. The landing is very small, and I need a distance from my subject to be able to focus with my DSLR. Bean was by the window so I could move around and get a few other angles I couldn’t get yesterday.

Feline Photography from Portraits of Animals!
I have to say, I do like it, Mr. Sunshine, subtle, almost abstract. I have some talented cats here. I do like the photos that show all the assets of my beautiful cats, but I also like the abstract shots that happen to have a cat in them in a very artful way. Read more and order this photo and browse other feline photos on Portraits of Animals.
