Daily Photo: Livin’ the Life

Charmee
Charmee

Look at those big gold eyes! Charm is sure she’s livin’ the life—two good meals a day that she doesn’t have to hunt for, lots of places to sleep, no kittens, no hormones to answer too, no unneutered male cats to answer to, lots of birds and squirrels outside the window to watch but no need to go outside and get them. And she’s got birdwatching buddies too. She’s finally gotten the idea that she’s supposed to stay inside and never even tries for the door any more. She’s been having a great time racing around the house for no reason and stealing boxes from other cats, in other words, she fits right in. Don’t forget, she’s up for adoption, so if you’re interested, let me know!

What other photos did I feature on this date?

Please Stop the Sweetness, I’m Not Getting Anything Done, 2014
two black cats
Such sweetness, I couldn’t take it any more.

Giuseppe and Bean exchange sleepy nose taps. I used one of the filters on my Smartphone to take this, on the “vintage” setting. I take so many photos of them at this window that it’s fun to have a way to vary them and the filters work well with the simple setting. But I don’t know how many I actually took! And I also had my DSLR there…

Cuddled

It’s hard to tell, but they are all tangled together, belly to belly, and just barely fit on the top of the wardrobe.

Sunshine came up after hearing all the fuss I was making, and the three tried to decide who would be where.

“We’re not planning anything.”

Kennedy wanted to know what was up out there and could he join? He’s feeling great, considering all his challenges. He wants to hang out with the guys!

Kennedy says “hi”!

And just after I got this one I stepped in there with him and Mewsette hopped up on the top of the baby gate, intent on his food, while he was intent on introducing himself. He talks to other cats. I missed the shot, the camera just could not focus in time, but it was incredibly sweet.

Then, back downstairs, Mr. Sunshine is airing himself out again on a hot day.

Mr. Sunshine exposes himself yet again.

A little later as I shuffled plastic bins Mimi and Bean took their positions once again atop this one, curling in one melting position after another. They’ve been at this for days and I think they have it perfected.

Bean and Mimi curl in various positions all through the day.

They followed me as I carried bins around and my tablecoverings from the wash. At some point some smart cat, probably Mewsette rubbing her face on the edge or swatting underneath for Mimi’s tail, closed the back door while Mimi was looking out the screen door. She appears highly displeased. But no one can get mad at Mewsette.

Someone closed the door with Mimi inside!

All in all, between that and the abundant garden with everything beginning to bloom in earnest, it’s a surprise I got anything at all done today but taking photos.

From the Archives: Still Life With Orange Cat, June 27, 2007

You humans are such a big yawn.

Mr. Peach thinks he’s hidden among the stuff on the cabinet by the window, but I saw him–and waited for him to see me! He found the whole thing very dull.

Still Life With Orange Cat

What’s an orange cat doing in my house? Mr. Peach, or Monsieur le Peche, was a kitty I fostered for a few months while his people determined whether the allergic reaction they were experiencing had anything to do with him. It did not, and he went back home shortly after this. You can read more about him in these links—and he’s also in the book I illustrated.

ORANGE CAT YAWNING
Please go away and let me nap!

Photos pulled “From the Archives” were taken by one or another digital camera of mine between 2002 and, well, yesterday, but usually they are older than that, and I had never had the chance to feature them. They’re a fun way to “introduce” other members of my feline family who came and went before I began blogging, and to illustrate my feline family in general from days gone by.

. . . . . . .

They are so easily amused! Adopt during Adopt a Cat Month!
