Daily Photo: Getting Things in Line, and Catching Up, Again
The Fantastic Four line up to have a family bath in the sun by the big north window. We’ve been enjoying all the extra light from that side window that used to be blocked by the wild black cherry tree we lost. I haven’t seen light like this since I moved in, and it makes photographing groups of black cats much easier, though we miss all the wildlife we enjoyed watching. We don’t have nearly as many birds at the feeder as we once did since many no doubt lost their homes, and the tree took down the lilacs when it fell as well so there is no cover near that feeder. But change is part of life, and enjoying the sunshine is a pretty fair trade, especially with winter on the way.
The photo above, and the one of Dr. Michelle below, were from September 28, over a week ago! Yes, we’ve been busy, but not that busy. Through September we’d again been having wireless issues which prevented us from communicating from the studio, and then simply internet issues which slowed everything down. Creating a post took so long with the connection coming and going, and sometimes I’d lose portions of it, emails were all over, I had to start letting posts slide. I do my daily work first and fit my posts in between, and even my regular work was delayed by email issues and even phone issues. When I had to give up on a post to get back to work, I knew it was time to call Comcast again and finally last weekend they simply swapped out my old modem for a brand new updated one (which they’d also done in January).
And then Facebook was acting odd, deleting the photos from my posts and I spent time trying to figure it out, too much time. I am not really fond of Facebook but I do depend on it for advertising my work—and, of course, rescuing cats. After a few days it cleared up with my personal page, and then with my Portraits of Animals page, but I didn’t get a chance to share my latest Sampler Boxes here. You’ll be seeing those soon. Since then I’ve been catching up with work and getting around to quarterly business things, but it felt so strange not to post, and that included posts on Portraits of Animals for art and merchandise and posts on my photo blog Today. I have editorial schedules set up for each site so I usually know what day of the week it is by what I’m posting that day, and that’s made it very confusing! You’re in for it now because I have many photos and items and stories to share.
So Dr. Michelle stopped to visit on September 28. The Four were really glad for a visitor today! Everyone came over to greet Dr. Michelle when she came in the door and then politely pestered for more pets. Visitors really need more hands.
Here are a dozen more from this time, day by day, so you can see what we’ve been up to! We had other visitors too, but not all photos came out well. It was nice to be able to at least share some photos on Facebook and/or Instagram during this time so at least I could keep them in order and have their captions handy.
September 18
We will not look at you. We just want our dinner. Stop taking pictures and feed us.
September 19
Hamlet says, “Come here, little birdie, I just want to play!” With the tree and lilac missing the birds don’t have a sheltered place to land so they line up along the top of the casement window. He is one long slender cat.
September 20
Mimi gives her paw a little touch up and rests while we work on a little photo shoot this afternoon. She is such a professional. (We were photographing the merchandise for the new sampler boxes.)
No wonder I couldn’t find anyone this afternoon. Even Mimi deserted me.
September 21
We’re having a great morning! Basil and Bella in the sun.
Well, when does the show start? Get to work!
I would if you beautiful cats would stop distracting me.
September 23
All sorts of breakfast shenanigans today. I believe there are seven black cats in this photo.
Giuseppe is glad I finally “got it”.
There’s a new face at the dinner table. Hamlet is second from the right. This is a little unexpected, but really wonderful.
Raising some cat loaves in the studio today. Those boxes come in handy.
September 24
Interlocking black cats, or perhaps they are really just one cat. Yes, Mimi is sitting on Giuseppe. Who could believe that tiny housepanther produced these big cats?
September 26
Our sweet sunny September morning was covered by purple clouds and ominous breezes.
September 27
Lewis and Clark are exploring the basement. Basil seems to be giving Hamlet the dirty work–he’s got cobwebs draped over his whiskers. I have a little photo of Hamlet inset in the lower left.
Today’s feline paperweight. Ophelia is friendly and loves to sit on my lap, but this is the first time she’s settled on my desk and stayed.
I decided I would make the bed after their morning nap. It’s 5 p.m., still haven’t made the bed.
October 1
I get the feeling Mimi sent Sunshine to ask me for some favor. It’s hard to resist those eyes. Second breakfast maybe?
October 4
I’m not at all disappointed that this box does not contain cut okra. I much prefer Basil. Mewsette has done some decorating along the edges.
We had another visitor today, a customer and friend who came to drop off photos for her portrait and also to deliver five feral cat shelters she and her husband made and donated to HCMT. And to pet some needy housepanthers! The boys kept her busy, but at one point she had five kitties around her, with their tails in the air, and one of them was Hamlet who was doing his best to act cool about it and copy his fur brothers. Thanks so much Ginny! I’ve already distributed the shelters and the food.
Bella and her main man, Mr. Sunshine.
October 5
Better get that breakfast going lady. We’re getting hangry.
Did Bella get the best sunny nap spot this morning?
And that’s all for now! Thanks for scrolling to the end!
