Daily Photo: Find Your Own Bed
I stripped the bed to change it and it was suddenly irresistible. The only place to sleep was on the clean bedspread that hadn’t even been spread on the bed yet. Would you brave these four expressions to not only move them but completely undo their little world?
They are even perfectly, or nearly so, lined up!
Even their mother was in on the act. Mimi had her own spot in order to cover even more of the bed with black cats. I will tell you the hour was late and that I did end up sleeping under all my covers in a freshly made bed before the dawn came.

Mewsette the Big Little Sister, 2011
A sweet one from 2011…
Mewsette always makes these little overtures to Cookie, and you can see by Cookie’s reaction that it’s not entirely well-received. You can also see that Mewsette is easily twice as big as Cookie and can take a beating from a senior tortie girl who acts as if she doesn’t need anything. Mewsette apparently loves her little big sister, and knows it’s all just an act.
Cookie doesn’t know, but Mewsette curls up next to her on the bed after Cookie has fallen asleep, and Cookie certainly appreciates Mewsette’s warmth, even if she’s not awake to know it.
Here are a few images of Mewsette keeping watch over Cookie as she slept: Big and Little Sisters and Copy Cats, and cuddling with her when she wasn’t feeling well: A Loyal Sister and Cookie Says Thank You. Cookie did grow to appreciate big, warm, soft Mewsette, as seen in Cookie’s Blessing.

Il Fagiolini
I heard a classical piece entitled “Il Fagiolini” or “The Little Bean”. Exactly! My little Bean is bigger than most beans, but he’s still smaller than all the other beans in the house! And he’s just as cute. And now he has a fancy Italian food name like his brother Giuseppe Basil Verdi.

When the Human’s Away… 2013
…the cats will unmake the bed to their liking and cuddle in it all during a cold afternoon.

In Line for the Sun, 2013
What are kitties to do when there is only one long strip of sun to enjoy? They conform themselves to the shape. Jelly Bean and Mr. Sunshine settled easily into the strip of sunshine, adjusting as necessary—especially since we all knew it was going to disappear again! Our snow hasn’t begun yet, but we hope everyone is safe and warm as another winter storm rolls through.

Listening to Mom, 2012
Giuseppe is resting but attentive when he and Mimi were resting together in the sun on the landing. I know they were communicating very deeply, and Giuseppe’s golden eyes were glowing as he calmly listened. Was she telling stories of life on the streets? Telling him about his daddy cat? Perhaps giving him tips on how to further woo Mademoiselle Daisy Emerald Marguerite? Perhaps the relative flavor of chipmunk versus field mouse?
