Are you sure you want to use that shade of blue?

I don’t think it goes with that painting.

The thing you are painting isn’t blue.

Why can’t you just paint what’s there?

Do you have to spend so much time on this stuff?

[Really, even Mimi is tired of hearing him.]

[He really just wants to be on my lap but there’s no room. Imagine that.]

Daily Photo: Desk Set, 2014

Mimi and Sunshine dream together on my desk.

At one time or another today each of the Five was on my desk in some capacity in sets of two and three. The day has been like a steambath with heavy rains last night and temperatures up to 90 degrees this afternoon, way too warm for this time of year, but nothing stops my faithful supervisors and companions from dispatching their duties. Mimi settled with me early and napped under the light, though temperatures were already in the 70s this morning. Sunshine joined us a little later so the two could put their heads together and dream.

A little later Giuseppe joined us and the three were lined up under the work lights. Well, I guess cats can never be too warm.

Finally, Mewsette had replaced Mr. Sunshine who I guess was fully baked, and Mimi warms her ears under the light, a habit Cookie had always had and early on, like, when Mimi was just here and before the kittens were even out of the bathroom, I remember Mimi watching Cookie, then sitting under the light herself when it was available. I had some errands to run, but Giuseppe says they’ll miss me if I run away again like I do. I remind him he had just had a five-hour nap and barely noticed my presence. He said he was being vigilant even though it looked like he was asleep.
