Daily Photo: Contemplation, and Guarding the Human
Not sure what Mewsette is thinking about, but she’s certainly beautiful while she does.
The weather has grown unusually hot for May in Western Pennsylvania, and Mewsette enjoyed sharing my little personal fan on the windowsill, with the windows wide open. This is the big casement window that faces north, and while the sun rarely shines right into it, especially when the leaves are on the lilac and wild black cherry, it does reflect off the casement itself when I have it open. I love that light, and have some of my most favorite photos of these black cats when illuminated by this reflection of warm sunlight mixed with the cool north light coming in the window.
Really, Mewsette is responsible for guarding me in this photo, all through the morning. They haven’t let me on too long of a leash since I came back from BlogPaws—I ran out to vote and do a bit of shopping this evening and Mimi was at the window talking to me when I pulled up to unload groceries. Below are a few samples of the treatment I’m getting.
The boys lounge on my desk, making sure I have to move them in order to access what’s underneath them–especially that pouch I was wearing when I came back home that smells like other kitties and dogs and bunnies and strange places! No way they’ll let me have that or I might run away again.
This is the landing outside the door to my studio, with Mr. Sunshine, Giuseppe, Jelly Bean and Mimi preventing me from efficiently accessing the steps by lying all over my walking area. When I did need to go down the stairs to answer the door, they rolled around and made it difficult for me to walk. Perhaps I’m getting a bit of my own—after all, every cat in the house was “trapped” in this room for some time in its existence here, why not me too?
Mimi doesn’t let me out of her sight, so to work on an illustration I have to make room for her on my drafting table. She is little so she has herself spread out to cover as much area as possible. I spend a lot of time petting her, not necessarily working…

Angus and Donal have NO idea what their mama, brothers and sister have endured. They have heard tales from their elders, Molly and MacKenzie, but have no personal experience with their person being gone for more than a long work day. I’m sure all will be forgiven and forgotten soon enough (especially if you promise to never, ever, to do THAT again… until next time). Welcome home!!
Aunt Amby, if these five have their way they will never need to suffer again! They are still surrounding me.
We love what a good job all your kits are doing at protecting and corralling you. They are really being so nice after you left. We’re a little less pleased to have the humans home after they leave us. Pay Back! Purrs and hugs from the kitties at The Cat on My Head, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
Janet, I don’t stand a chance. They’ve been at it today too.
Sweet! 🙂 LOL at them giving you a taste of your own medicine! That’ll teach you to go away for about … like …… forever!!
How about this Carolyn–my path is paved with cats!
