Daily Photo: Composition in Blue

What’s to be done on a drizzly morning but find a good place to curl up and think, and nap. Especially the person’s drafting table. She doesn’t need all that space. It’s Mr. Sunshine, Mimi and Mewsette.

Photos from previous years…

Understanding Elders, 2018

Jelly Bean really doesn't want to smack Mariposa, even though she's asking for it.
Jelly Bean really doesn’t want to smack Mariposa, even though she’s asking for it.

Bean’s like, “Come on, kid, don’t make me hit you,” when Mariposa is literally asking for it.

(Bella just walked across my keyboard and added this: 0———0

Guess that’s what she thinks!)

Mariposa feels she owns the bed and anyone who wants to be there is subject to her whims. Big brother Bean is patient with such things.

He's still trying to ignore her, but she dragged herself closer.

Eventually he decides, if she really wants him to hit her, he will just do it and get it over with or he’ll get no peace and never get to the nap he really came there to enjoy.

Nevertheless, she persisted.
Nevertheless, she persisted.

In the end he just waved his paw and Mariposa was distracted by a bird outside the window. It all ended well.

He did raise a paw, but ended up just waving it around.

Mariposa is now only in the bathroom for mealtimes and is out and about for the rest of the day. She hasn’t gone all the way downstairs yet, though. I’m waiting for her to figure that out on her own, but I think we may take the time to lure her down and get her comfortable with the space. Until she is she will continue to eat in the bathroom. Of course, this has to be behind closed doors because the boys would be the first ones to steal it from her.

I participated in Leslie Saeta’s annual “30 in 30” painting challenge in January 2017. This is my painting for day 15, and it’s the first cat sketch I’ve done. I painted a number of portraits over the holidays so I moved to landscapes and other subjects first. I actually had a different image planned for today but Mimi, Mewsette and Mr. Sunshine were totally enchanting getting organized in the best cuddle pile on my drafting table by the window, the light was wonderful, and, well, here you are. • We watched Da Boyz duke it out yesterday; the paws were flying, the back feets were kicking, and I finally had to go elsewhere, because it’s too upsetting for me! I’ve been so busy with work and after-work stuff, that there isn’t enough playtime for them, and so they have to release their pent-up energy somehow. The Hubby isn’t bothered by the wrestling, but he’s a guy…

    • Yes, we’ve had the “clash of titans” here more than once! But when the new foster plays with a regular, it’s really special!
