Daily Photo: But, Soft! What Light Through Yonder Window Breaks?
It is the east, and Mademoiselle Daisy Emerald is the sun.*
. . . . . . .
So sorry, Mr. Shakespeare, to use lines from your play,
but my ebony love, with eyes of emerald and the name of a precious flower
leaves tomorrow for fair Verona
and I will not hear from her for seven whole, long, tortuous, endless days…
Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight!
For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.*
I must amuse myself with my useless brothers, and spend time with my gentle Mama Mimi
to assuage my grief at not finding a magic message for so long.
See how she leans her face upon her [paw].
O that I were a glove upon that [paw]
That I might touch that cheek!*
And my heart would burst with holding all my love inside until she shall communicate once again.
My bounty is as boundless as the sea,
My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite.*
But she moves to a fairer place, a cottage by a lake, well fitting my enchanting feline maiden.
And I know that, will I sing through the big north window to the northeast
she will still hear me on the wind
and we will rest under the same sky.
A time for us, some day there’ll be…**
And I can dream that I am there by her side in that quiet place.
…peace and quiet and open air, wait for us, somewhere…***
Good night, my most precious and beautiful Mademoiselle,
You are the flower of my springtime, dearest Marguerite, and the gems of your eyes like the Emerald in your name.
Good night, good night! parting is such sweet sorrow,
That I shall say good night till it be morrow.*
I see you in the stars.
Nuzzles and Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs, my sweetest gem.

*These lines are from Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, including the title of this post.
**This line is from the American lyric added to Nino Rota’s 1968 movie score for Romeo and Juliet.
***This line is from the song “Somewhere” sung in Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.
Take some time, indulge in all three, and, I might add, John Madden’s 1998 Shakespeare in Love.

Don’t pine to hard G. A handsomeness like yours can’t be set aside for long!

Thanks guys! Melodrama is Giuseppe’s thing, he’s an opera star. Secretly, I think he’s going to enjoy the anguish. It helps him with his art of opera singing.

Thanks, Tabbies–my precious flower will have so many adventures to tell, I’m sure…and my Mama Bernadette was glad to be able to show off her knowledge of that guy who shakes pears, whoever that is. Whatever, it worked for Mlle.!
Are your kitties Sharks or Jets?
Meg, I would say for sure they were Jets, if we figure they were the Polish-American working class gang. I guess Mlle., being French-Canadian…well, her fur brother Theophile could be a Shark, but we certainly hope nothing happens to him!
bien sûr!
Hi pretty black friend. We send our love to the whole gang.
Hello, Stephanie! Giuseppe is heartbroken at the moment, but he understands. We all say hello back!
