Daily Photo: Brother See, Brother Do

three black cats in drawer
Brother See, Brother Do

Jelly Bean thought he was clever in finding his “secret bed” and crawling into it whenever I put away the dishtowels, but his brothers found him out!

Now Mr. Sunshine is walking all over him trying to find a spot to settle down—which might just be right on top of Bean—and Giuseppe is trying to figure out how to get in on the deal. I am concerned about the integrity of the handmade vintage drawer, probably made better than anything I could afford to buy for my kitchen today but still not something I want to see falling apart at the corners and ending up in parts and towels on the floor.

Sunshine decided he’d try another direction and jumped down. Neither he nor Giuseppe managed to get into the drawer with Bean, who grew tired of their attempts and got up on the cabinet, and I quickly tossed my towels in and shut the drawer. That’s the end of that for another week, until I wash the dishtowels again.

This was almost today’s sketch, but there was too much moving around, plus I thought it would be cute as a more finished painting.

Obviously you have TOO MANY TOWELS in the drawer. If you like, I will loan Bayla to you (briefly). He’s an expert at removals and rearrangements. I could also arrange a visit of the elder brothers, Angus and Donal, who may be able to recount some of Callie’s near-Houdini-level stunts. She never tried to get into the refrigerator, but there wasn’t a drawer or cabinet in the kitchen that she didn’t raid. I imagine she and Kublai are at the Rainbow Bridge sharing secrets and chuckling at everything the got away with right under their gullible humans’ noses.

Obviously that is meant to be a cat bed–what was I thinking closing it?! Namir gave them some training on checking the kitchen cabinets for the sake of making annoying noises, and no one opens anything else but they are in it as soon as I do. To date I have never packed a cat into a box and sent them off with an order, but I have opened boxes to find cats in them!

Smart kitties! I love to sleep in drawers. When we were in France my human had furniture from which I managed to open drawers myself. I loved to sleep on bed sheets =^.^=

Around here it’s their mom who loves drawers, and she’s so tiny I seriously have to check before I close one that she’s not inside. No one can open anything here but me–I was taught years ago by a superintelligent black cat with thumbs.
