The blue sky fades from summer height with lilac dusk

and all the leaves do whisper;

into the gentle twilight dome I busk

and hear in answer, my mistress’ purr.

My most lovely ebony princess Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite, I know your human mama is away from you tonight and you stay in a strange place with your fur brother, the former vagabond Theophile, but we all send you purrs of comfort and we know Theo will take good care of you. Your mama will not be gone for long and will enjoy her brief time away, and she and your papa will return very soon with stories and gifts and interesting smells on them, and both with shower you with love and affection.

Mi amor, in my deepest heart I know we walk beneath the same sky, and hear your voice on the breeze.

Sleep well, ma cher. I will dream of your emerald eyes.

Mademoiselle’s mama and papa are away for the weekend, and Mademoiselle, who is diabetic and needs her injections twice daily, stays at the Cat Hotel at a nearby veterinary hospital. Theophile will make certain that she is treated well, and if any dogs dare come near his precious fur sister, they will not be in the room for long.
