Daily Photo and Cats for Adoption: Rocky is Ready

big black cat
“Rocky” is ready to go home with you!

Rocky was taken in by friends who last year took in two black mama kitties and their kittens. He belongs to the neighborhood and began hanging out on their porch. He’s extremely friendly, spends most of his time on his back looking up for pets,” they say. I think he looks like a big teddy bear. He is freshly neutered and up to date on vaccinations, and is getting along fine through the screen door with their other cats. Like Oliver yesterday, Rocky is also FIV+.

His rescuers are on the other side of the town I live in, about a mile away. I also have to add that whenever a big handsome house panther shows up, I have to joke with Mimi that she may know him…or be related to him…you never know!

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is not difficult to manage and cats can live long healthy lives, and can even live communally with other cats.

Rocky is located in Carnegie, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. If you think you can give this big, affectionate, friendly house panther a home, please contact me.

I don’t know about you, but Mewsette finds him very interesting…Dr. Michelle came for a social visit and we turned around to find Mewsette gazing at the screen.

Beautiful Kitten

Beautiful Kitten

A ragdoll kitten? Other friends in another neighborhood near me whose house backs on woods and a conservation area have already adopted two of their cats from the woods, and they’ve rescued others as well. Now a young mama cat and two kittens have been eating on the porch. The other kitten is a gray tabby and not quite as social as this one, the mama kitty is another house panther and very friendly. They called for advice and will be bringing all three in and keeping the mama cat, then making sure these two are socialized and they will be up for adoption.

If you’d like to adopt this lovely kitten, and possibly the tabby sibling as well, it’s kind of a reward for people who have been a good steward of cats in their neighborhood. This kitten and its family are in Scott Township, PA. If you are interested, please contact me.

Updates on Finn, Tommy and Trooper and You Can Still Donate and Choose a Gift

And don’t forget, if you’ll give $25.00 to support the care of any of the three cats described here I’ll send you any digital print in my Etsy shop up to a $25.00 value and that includes a few that are already framed. Larger donations could result in larger gifts. Details are below. For now, read updates about the cats in question and the offer in yesterday’s post.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

    • Annie, isn’t he something? And he’s a big baby doll! That kitten is gorgeous though–it’s always fun to see what genetics do!
