Sharon, it’s so funny you should say that! back in 2001 I began an illustrated story of all the creatures in my garden, and it was inspired by the Hester who came to live with me that year. I wrote it out and made the initial sketches the day my mother had her lung cancer surgery, while I was in the waiting room. It didn’t turn out as anyone thought, and I spent the next decade taking care of things, but I still have the sketchbook where I worked out that story. It’s probably time I got back to it!

Tillie and Georgia, I got the idea he was a very quiet and serious cat since he never had any injuries and seemed very gentle, not like the others. I hope he was fixed at some point, and I’m sure he made a wonderful friend to a human. He certainly made lovely babies.

Bernie, I think the Five will take a little longer than me, but I’m sure in time they’ll be glad to have senior siblings to care for. They’ve been a little bored since their fur sisters left.

Amby, they are looking a little brighter already! I found Lakota up on the windowsill, enjoying the view, and Jojo is a professional figure-8 walker. They are absolutely loving their noms, no more hissing at each other, and very little overall–the Five were hissing at each other outside the door, and hissing at the door, but that’s all over now. Wish I could spend more time in there.
