Cats for Adoption: Half Off Adult Cat Adoptions With Pittsburgh C.A.T.

Fall in love--with an adult cat!
Fall in love–with an adult cat!

Our foster homes are great, but every rescued kitty should have a forever home. Through October 31, Pittsburgh C.A.T. is offering half-price adoptions for all cats 10 months and older. That means you could even adopt two cats, like siblings or good buddies, for regular price you’d pay to adopt one cat. Twice the love for one great price! What a deal! Especially since all cats are already spayed or neutered, free of fleas, worms and all other parasites, up to date on all age-appropriate vaccines and microchipped. You save a life when you adopt from Pittsburgh C.A.T. because all our cats were rescued, either from the streets where they were unwanted and often threatened, or from one of our shelters who couldn’t hold them because they were ill or considered unadoptable and we took them in to bring them back to health and find them a home.

I’m thrilled to say I designed this graphic too–and I hope it helps lots of cats get adopted!

Charcoal

Charcoal is about two years old.
Charcoal is about two years old.

Charcoal is a handsome strong black panther kitty, only about two years old. He was found as a stray, but this gorgeous boy deserves a loving forever home! He’s very active, playful, and high-energy, providing lots of fun and entertainment! He’s also affectionate. He’s sharing his home with lots of other cats and a respectful dog. He’s also friendly with children. Ideally, Charcoal would love a busy home where he gets lots of attention and people who will play with him and burn off some of that energy!

Franklin

Franklin is FIV+ but gets along great with his foster siblings.

“Hey you!” “Hi, Franklin!” “Whatcha doin’?” “Trying to get your picture.” “OK! I look cute? How’s this? You like my face?” “Oh, Franklin, you have the best face! I don’t know how anyone can resist you!” “Thank you. I like foster home but forever home better, right? Plz help me find forever home!”

Franklin is a lovely two-year old boy. He’s a social butterfly, friendly and outgoing with cats and “his” humans. While initially a little shy with strangers, he loves attention from people he knows and just needs a little time to warm up before he’s greeting you and wanting lots of love and attention! He even follows his foster mom around the house. Franklin loves his kitty friends, too! He can frequently be found snuggling with other kitties, such as his buddy Sally (also available for adoption). And he has a playful side! What else could you ask for in a kitty?

Look how nice he is!
Look how nice he is!

Franklin is FIV+. Right now, Franklin is a happy healthy boy, and he’d be happier in a forever home! Most FIV+ cats do not show symptoms and have a normal life expectancy, although they can be prone to secondary infections. FIV cats can live happily in a stable household with other kitties. If you are interested in this lovely boy, an adoption counselor will be happy to discuss FIV further with you.

Eugene and Abraham

Eugene and Abraham are the best of brotherly friends.

Eugene and Abraham are the best of brotherly friends.

I’ve featured these two before, but they are such an incredible pair–and you’d adopt two loving, bonded cats for the price of one!

Abraham and Eugene are two bonded brothers, still only about three years old, who were left behind in a hoarding home. They are gentle and sweet and just want a quiet home with someone who will love them. They get along well with other cats but would probably do better in a home without noisy children. They need a patient adopter who understands that being abandoned for months leaves them with a bit of skittishness at times. Please consider giving these darling sweet boys a loving home. They deserve the best!

Their foster says of them:

I wish you could see what I see every day with Eugene & Abraham. Two brothers who love each other, who long for pets and scratches and playtime. I wish you could feel what I feel when Eugene looks up at me with his big gorgeous eyes, imploring me to pet him, what I feel when Abraham snuggles down next to me, purring while I pet his sleek sides. I wish you could laugh with me while Abraham jumps around batting at a mouse, or Eugene plays with other kitties under the door.

But you can’t share all of that with me. You can’t see that, and feel that, and laugh at that. Unless you open your heart, and your home, to these two beautiful boys.

Give the boys a chance.

Amazon Wish Lists

The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

  • What cuties! I love that photo of Franklin where he is laying down with his ear curled under his head. He seems like he has quite the personality! It is amazing to me that rescues ever find a way to offer discounts on their fees. They do so much for cats and they are usually lose money on the deal even when adopters pay full price. Your graphic is gorgeous! I hope that lots of kitties find their forever homes because of what is being done here.

    • We’ve had quite a few adoptions, Robin! Franklin is proving that you can’t tell a cat with FIV from any other. I think he even has an adoption app too! Many rescuers pay out of pocket to help with expenses too.
