Cats for Adoption: Four Little Kittens

The Story of Pearl, Leo and Theo

These three were born outside at my work in Finleyville (PA), along with their sister Penny (she has already been adopted).

I take care of a small feral group that live out back behind our shop building. A new cat showed up, I made an appointment to get “it” fixed, the appointment was in 10 days. The next day when I went to work…there were kittens (I have been “kitten free” for nearly 5 years)!

When I found this litter they looked to be about 2-3 weeks old (by the way, the night before I found them I agreed to foster the kittens from the litter that Betty is from). So for several weeks I kept an eye on them and followed the mama (who is quite feral) to see where she was moving them to. Finally after a couple of weeks, it was time to get them so that I could socialize them and get them adopted into wonderful homes.

Now here we are! They are about 10 weeks old and will be getting spayed/neutered very soon! Penny went to her forever home last week. She was adopted by a vet that is taking care of her spaying and shots.

They are all loving and affectionate! They are all great with my other cats (except Joey…lol, they all want to be friends with him, but he is not interested)! I do not have children, but I do have the neighbors kids come over to play with and pet them, they all are fine with them too!

I just want to say that if I had two cats in the house who did what Leo and Theo are doing, above, on a regular basis, I would NEVER get ANYTHING done! And dilute calico or tortoiseshell cats are beautiful as kittens, but when they grow up to adults they are absolutely stunning.

Betty’s Story

Betty came to me from Homeless Cat Management Team (kittens rescued while trapping feral cats), she came with her four siblings, all with severe URI’s and horrible eye infections. Betty and her brother, Biggie, were the healthiest from the start!

All of her littermates have been adopted, so I have moved her into the upstairs kitten room with my other litter, and she has adapted wonderfully! She is a VERY sweet and playful kitten! She loves my resident cat, Jake. I believe that she would do best in a home with another cat that could be her buddy. She is very willing to be friends with anyone, even my other resident cat, Joey, who is less than thrilled that they she likes to lay on “his” couch!

Betty is about 14 weeks old, spayed, and UTD on her shots.

The Most Beautiful Calico Needs a Home

Several people I know have posted this sweet rescued calico, and she really is very pretty, but finding a new foster or adoptive home is urgent!

This lovely friendly calico girl was found on the campus of Community College of Allegheny County North Side a few weeks ago. The person who rescued her took her to the veterinarian and discovered she was “skin and bones” and covered with fleas, but she is FeLV negative. She did not get her shots at that time, the vet suggested fattening her up first. She has a broken tooth and a crumpled left ear due to an untreated broken blood vessel, but that doesn’t stop her from being non-stop sweet and. According to her rescuer she loves to just sit on your lap and talk.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

And a big thanks to the people who have gone out of their way to rescue an unneutered polydactyl tom who had an huge abscess in his cheek, a really old orange cat who was filthy with his own waste and dirt and food, who transported a friendly adult female on death row whose only transgression was a URI, and who rescued all the momcats and kittens and bottle fed all the orphaned kittens and who feed all the cats outdoors who they can’t take in. The stories fly by every single day and I can’t keep up with them, but I’m so glad people take the time for this.
