Cats for Adoption: City Kitty, Three Years Waiting

tabby cat
City Kitty!

Little City Kitty has been through so much and yet just wants love and kisses!

PLEASE help us find sweet City Kitty a home for 2015, she has been with Kopy Kat Sanctuary for almost 3 years!!!

She was rescued by KKS as a kitten from McKeesport, PA. A nurse’s aide was talking about this poor kitten while at work and luckily for City Kitty a friend of KKS overheard and asked where she was and we went and got her. She was sick, tiny and her tail was so badly infected that the only option was to have it amputated. Now she looks like a Manx.

She loves to talk to you, especially when she wants to be petted. She would prefer a quieter home; if other cats, they need to be very easygoing. But we think she would do best as the only cat but she does tolerate dogs. She just wants to be held, petted, and loved — any attention immediately brings on a soft purr! She loves toys and has a little stuffed dog that she carries around in her mouth, then sets it upright and carries on a conversation with it – so comical!! She lays beside the computer as foster mom types and gently places her paw on her arm. She sleeps at the foot of the bed every night. You could not ask for a better cat. She wants to be where you are all the time. She loves kisses, hugs and play time.

City has be patiently waiting and deserves her person. She dreams of finding her very own human to to love. WE have no idea why she keeps getting looked over since we think she is the perfect cat and so delightful to be with. We are guessing that City Kitty is at least 4 years old maybe more.

City Kitty is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, NEGATIVE for FIV/FeLV, wormed, Frontlined and ready to go. If you are interested please message Kopy Kat Sanctuary. She is in Pittsburgh, PA. Please share this sweet lady. Paws crossed! Thank you.

Kopy Kat Sanctuary is located in Delmont, PA, east of Pittsburgh. They are “a group of cat-loving women trying to improve the lives of a few felines” in their own homes and out of their own pockets as well as helping those in need with low-cost spay and neuter to help reduce the populations of homeless cats. They have no shelter, but have saved many lives. Visit their website for more information or visit their Facebook page.

Opportunities to Help Cats

Amazon Wish Lists

The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

I’ve lost count of the number of kittens in foster among our volunteers, and August is usually the month with the highest surrender numbers at Pittsburgh shelters. Part of the mission with TNR is to not return the kittens—once we’ve rescued them we socialize them and put them up for adoptiont.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs, like Auntie. If you can help with just one purchase from the kitten wish list on Amazon.com you’d make some kittens and a rescuer very happy.

We have two wish lists at the moment, the one hosted by Margo which several of you have donated through already and a new one hosted by Tarra that includes items for adult cats.

Help Feral Cats This Winter

We not only provide spay and neuter surgery as well as vaccines for the community cats we care for, we also provide emergency veterinary care, food when necessary, and we make shelters for them to live in over the winter. We’ve had a few shelter-making parties with Rubbermaid containers and styrofoam coolers, but we are running short of supplies. Right now we need $188 to buy tape and plastic so we can convert coolers into shelters this weekend and a few weekends in the future, so we can distribute shelters to as many cats as we can. Anything you’d like to donate would be greatly appreciated, though these donations are not tax-deductible. You can PayPal to [email protected].

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.
