Cats for Adoption: Butch Cassidy and Sundance

Apparently, Butch Cassidy and Sundance need another hole in the wall to hang out. These two boys are young and were adopted together, but one human caretaker recently died of cancer and the other is unable to take care of them. They are healthy and very well-behaved young cats. Here’s more from Kopy Kat Sanctuary.

Brothers Butch Cassidy (tuxedo) and Sundance (gray & white) were born March 2012. They sadly with 2 other siblings were left off on a porch in a box with their momma when they were aprox 4 weeks old. Butch and Sundance were adopted together at 4 months of age into what we thought would be their forever home with an older couple. Tragedy stuck and the once strong owner (the husband) recently died of cancer after a short uphill battle. The wife is physically not able to care for the cats on her own, so they are back to Kopy Kat Sanctuary in Pittsburgh to try again to find the most wonderful new forever home. This is heartbreaking and going to be quite the adjustment for these two dear boys. They have lived and loved these 2 people since July of 2012 ~ this is the only “home” they have ever known.

Because this is going to be a big transition for them….we have promised to keep them together. They are two of the sweetest, funniest and most loving goofballs you would ever meet! They are best buds and play and wrestle and groom each other. They even sleep together. They get along with other cats. We do not know about dogs. But we think that if you have a really nice dog and plan a very slow, patient and loving transition time…..we really think they would be a fabulous compadre to an existing clan. They do not jump on counters or furniture and they come when called!! They have not been around very young children. But they absolutely love people so if you have a 7+ year old boy or girl that would be perfect as they could grow up together. They love to sit and relax in the sun or on your lap after they have played themselves out…..so an older person would be wonderful too. If you look into each of their faces you will know they will give you their best of everything…….so can you offer that as well in return?

They are neutered, tested negative for feline leukemia and feline aids, and are UTD on vaccinations. PLEASE share and contact Kopy Kat Sanctuary for an adoption application if interested. Thank you.

About Kopy Kat Sanctuary

Kopy Kat Sanctuary
Kopy Kat Sanctuary

Kopy Kat Sanctuary is located in Delmont, PA, east of Pittsburgh. They are “a group of cat-loving women trying to improve the lives of a few felines” in their own homes and out of their own pockets as well as helping those in need with low-cost spay and neuter to help reduce the populations of homeless cats. They have no shelter, but have saved many lives. Visit their website for more information or visit their Facebook page. And if you can’t adopt or foster, make a small donation to help this very small sanctuary.

And read about other kittens and adult cats who are looking for homes.

Amazon Wish Lists

The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

I’ve lost count of the number of kittens in foster among our volunteers, and August is usually the month with the highest surrender numbers at Pittsburgh shelters. Part of the mission with TNR is to not return the kittens—once we’ve rescued them we socialize them and put them up for adoptiont.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs, like Auntie. If you can help with just one purchase from the kitten wish list on Amazon.com you’d make some kittens and a rescuer very happy.

We have two wish lists at the moment, the one hosted by Margo which several of you have donated through already and a new one hosted by Tarra that includes items for adult cats.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.
