Cats for Adoption: Six Adult Black Cats

Snuggles
Snuggles

Hi! I’m Snuggles! After my owner of many years passed away, I found myself in a strange place. I was very frightened. I met my foster mom when I was having a really bad day. She told me everything would be okay… and it was! Now I’m not scared anymore!

I’m really affectionate, and I love to lay in your lap. I’m really good at baking — I love to make biscuits! I don’t have any claws so it won’t prickle, I promise! I’ll follow you everywhere in the house to make sure you’re happy… even into the bathroom. I purr really loudly, and I love an open window with a nice breeze. Sometimes I’m overwhelmed, but my foster mom knows that’s okay. While I really like my foster mom, I’m looking for a forever home. Preferably a home with no little kids (I like to play a little hard sometimes). I like other cats okay but sometimes I play a little hard for them, too, so I’d be fine as an only cat, or with only active big young cats who won’t put up with my nonsense.

They tell me I’m about four years old.

Adopt a Housepanther!

These big, beautiful housepanthers have no idea why they are still waiting. For you, that is. Sure, kittens are cute, but these cats have experience with love and humans, they learned their manners and know how to manage your home. They are friendly, even lap cats, playful. There are girls and boys, a longhair and one with FIV, some like dogs and other cats and kids and others prefer adults, and each one is individual and each would be the most wonderful companion and definitely beautify your home.

Gilmore

Gilmore

Gilmore is a sweet, affectionate boy with those he trusts. He also has a playful side! He’s quiet and calm — no trouble at all! — but skittish with strangers. He will require someone with patience who will let him settle into his new home, preferably one without young children. He’s about three years old and gets along fine with dogs and other cats.

Gilmore has already waited far too long for his forever home. Can you help this sweet boy find his forever home?

Solo

Solo

Solo is a dashing mix of tall, dark, and handsome with some ice cool on the side. He is so cool that all his cool cat siblings flock to him. They don’t discriminate for some silly FIV label! Solo lounges on the couch with his humans and their very large, slobbery pups too.

He loves the sun and his window perch. He loves stretching oh so big and has that perfect cool cat arch. He adores play time — it turns him into a kitten again! His bushy tail is priceless to see when he is ready to pounce!! He is even famous for his upside down face. Belly exposed, paws stretched out… he is a sight to see!

Everyone wants to be him! If you’re dying to meet him, apply for Solo today!

Mr. Man

Mr. Man
Mr. Man

Salutations. I am Mister Man, and I am ready for my forever home. Let me give you a brief overview of my finer qualities. I am quite outgoing – ready for lots of pets and head scratches right away. I will approach a complete stranger as long as they seem apt to give a gentle hello. I truly enjoy prime lap cuddle time. My foster mama says I’m the sweetest cuddle boy!

I have a shiny black coat with a delicate ring of white around my neck. This provides me with adequate dress for any occasion. I am a rotund fellow. Think Main Coon meets Panther. This just means I have more love to give and, boy, do I love to love!

I am a friend to just about any feline. Dogs I could do without. I have not been around children, but any size human who respects my space and has some soft pets for me is right-o in my book.

I am a big boy with a bigger heart. I am FIV+ which may sound scary but really is nothing to get in a tizzy over. I can (and do) safely live with other cats. My current caretaker would be happy to extol all of my virtues and address any queries you may have.

I would just adore to have a family of my own.

Beatrice

Beatrice
Beatrice

I am a beautiful, older girl, about 8 years young. If you are looking for a kitty that will come running to greet you after a long hard day of work, then I am your girl. I enjoy head scratches and sitting on your lap, but on my terms. I also do well with other cats and crazy dogs too.

Pugsy

Pugsy
Pugsy

I’m Pugsy. I’m a sweet, gentle boy, not even two years old. I’m very shy at first, and will hide from strangers and loud noises. I am a big purr-baby, though. I will relax under your petting hand, and my purr can be heard from feet away! I need a quiet home with a patient person who will continue building my trust in humans. My foster mom says I will hide when there’s loudness and children and things, but when you’re alone at night I’ll come out and sit in your lap for some cuddle time.

Pugsy is neutered and up-to-date on shots, ready for a loving (quiet) forever home!

Adopting from Pittsburgh C.A.T.

All Pittsburgh C.A.T. adoptions begin with our application. After it’s reviewed you’ll be contacted about meeting your cat or kitten. All cats have been fostered in homes and are healthy, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines.

Amazon Wish Lists

amazon wish list for kittens
The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

This award-winning art was inspired by working in post op at the May 25, 2014 Homeless Cat Management Team TNR clinic. I’ll make a $5.00 donation to HCMT for each poster sold to help spay and neuter more cats so there won’t be so many to rescue. Quantity discounts are available if you want a stack for a clinic or event. Read more about this artwork and purchase a print of this sketch.
