Cats for Adoption: Ready for High-energy Playtime?

Julie is available for adoption through Pittsburgh CAT.

If you want the silly and energetic play of a kitten consider a kitten in an adult cat’s body! Some cats take longer than others to grow up and will chase feather toys and balls and laser dot endlessly like a kitten, and then they relax and cuddle with you, like an adult.

Julie and Marcello are each one to two years old and are actively looking for a home with someone who will play with them!

Julie

Her foster says…

“Don’t overlook this great cat just because she’s not a kitten! Julie is still adorable, energetic, playful, and all of the delightful things about a kitten, in a grown-up young kitty’s body!

Julie is a year old black and white tuxedo cat with the longest tail you’ve ever seen. Julie apparently heard about Pittsburgh C.A.T. and decided that she really wanted to join the group– she actually came into a funeral home during a memorial service and jumped up on the lap of our coordinator!

Since day 1 with us, Julie has been a happy and healthy little girl who loves nothing more than all of your attention. Julie adores being picked up and having her ears and chin rubbed. Despite Julie’s tuxedo coloring, she fancies herself a bit of a house panther, and can be quite talkative. She enjoys practicing her Pitt Panther growl any chance she gets. Don’t worry though– she just likes to hear herself talk.

Julie would prefer a quieter home with no kids or older kids who understand that she is still a young lady herself. She will need a bit of help minding her manners from time to time, but remember that she is still growing herself! She could live by herself, or with an easy-going male cat who doesn’t mind that she’s a bit of a prima donna.

Help make Julie’s dreams of being adopted through Pittsburgh C.A.T. come true and fill out an application for her today!”

Marcello

Marcello is ready!

“Meet Marcello, a sweet and affectionate big boy who would love to sit with you all day long. His long legs give him the ability to jump and run really fast, so he loves to play! He spent a few weeks in a large crate waiting for someone to give him some space to stretch out, and he hopes to never ever go back! Will you be Marcello’s new mommy and daddy? I promise you, he will not disappoint!

Marcello is very high-energy and his playful nature means he would prefer a home without young children. He’s not all that fond of dogs, either, but does like other cats.

Marcello is still young, only about one or two years old!”

About these cats

To see all our adoptable cats, visit Pittsburgh C.A.T. on Facebook or visit our Petfinder page.

How to adopt these kitties!

All cats are available through Pittsburgh C.A.T. They are:

  • spayed or neutered
  • up to date on all age-appropriate vaccine
  • test negative for FIV/FeLV unless otherwise noted

They may be shy at first but are completely socialized to living with humans, and the person who fostered them will be able to tell you all about them.

Pittsburgh C.A.T. has an adoption application and requires veterinary checks on records of current/prior pets of all species and landlord checks if the applicant rents. If you are interested in any of these cats or other cats from Pittsburgh C.A.T., it all begins with the adoption application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ktXTAsBbRRxQEfjGJIcQIpITf3UsGwL6FjTprul-adc/viewform

Amazon Wish Lists

The Amazon Wish List for our group’s foster kittens.

Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.
