Cats for Adoption: The Airport Kitty Crew!
You may remember a recent story about a little of newborn kittens found in a car engine in someone’s garage… and their mother trapped at the airport! Time flies, just like those planes, and those six kittens and their mom are already up for adoption.

Mom and all the kittens are named for famous pilots—don’t ever doubt that we rescuers do our homework when it comes to finding unique names for our kittens. Starting with Mom Amelia, here are the stories their foster write about them.
I’m Amelia, as in Amelia Earhart. You might have heard about me – I’m the leader and fearless Mum of the famous Airport Kitty Crew! I had my babies at the airport then moved them up under the hood of a car to keep them safe and warm…..then the car left! Thankfully a nice lady came and found me, and reunited me with my SIX babies! I am very affectionate and sweet, I walk with you everywhere you go, and love to be petted. I’m just about 1.5 years old, so I’m practically a kitten myself! I am an excellent Mum and love all my kids. I will be available for adoption around the middle of July. Apply for me today!
I’m Elinor, as in Elinor Smith the famous pilot from the 1920’s. But more recently, you might know me from the famous Airport Kitty Crew! I have a beautiful black velvet coat with just a few tiny white hairs on my chest. I am the tiniest of the crew! I love to play and spend a lot of time with my sisters, Phoebe and Harriet. I will be available for adoption around the middle of July. Apply for me today!
Phoebe here, as in the famous pilot Phoebe Omlie! I love playing with my 2 sisters and 3 brothers! We run and tumble then curl up with our Mum for a nap, we are the sweetest group around! I will be available for adoption around the middle of July. Apply for me today!
I’m Harriet, named after Harriet Quimby – a famous pilot that flew across the English Channel. I haven’t done anything like that, yet…but I love to fly down the stairs and up onto the kitty condo! My brothers and sisters love to curl up with me at nap time, I’m an excellent napping friend, even my mom says so! I will be available around the middle of July!
I’m Orville, as in Orville Wright! I am very affectionate and playful, I love to run around carrying my mouse toy! I will be available for adoption around the middle of July. Apply for me today!

I’m Chuck, as in Chuck Yeager! I’m the biggest crew member, outweighing everyone else by several ounces! I’m a little more of an independent guy, but once I decide to snuggle with you…look out! You’ll be hooked! I will be available for adoption around the middle of July. Apply for me today!
Adopting from Pittsburgh C.A.T.
All Pittsburgh C.A.T. adoptions begin with our application. After it’s reviewed you’ll be contacted about meeting your cat or kitten. All cats have been fostered in homes and are healthy, spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines.

Amazon Wish Lists
Many rescuers pay out of pocket for veterinary care and food but the costs of raising even the average litter of four healthy kittens is more than many people have, and many rescues have greater needs. Pittsburgh CAT has a number of wish lists that include foods for feeding neo-natal kittens like KMR, and other lists that include the best kitten foods, adult cat foods, food and materials for feral cats, and preferred toys and litter.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.
There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.
- Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
- Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
- Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
- Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
- Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.
If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.
