Mlle. Daisy’s letter…

Each year Giuseppe has sent greetings for Canada Day to Mlle. Daily Emerald Marguerite, she and her person have moved to a new place. This year they seem well settled in Steeltown North, Hamilton, ON. Giuseppe feels an even deeper bond with his ebony empress because he lives in Steeltown South, Pittsburgh, PA. Now if Mr. Sunshine can only get the keys to the Escape, they know it’s right up at the top of the hill, not up the hill and down the road around the puddle like the other places were.

But Mlle.’s mama and I still envision the feline lovers as hero and heroine in any number of historic or operatic scenarios, and with both national celebrations so close together the two become stand-ins for historic characters.

Giuseppe, my handsome American opera star, it is me, Mlle. Daily Emerald, writing to you from the big city of Hamilton, OH, as I look out our patio door across the city and the lake to the south where I know you life. …. Happy 4th of July to you both and to your Mama Mimi, your brother Jelly Bean and sister Mewsette. And special wishes to your lovely Mama Bernadette and fosters you have so generously raised up to be good and brave cats, Basil and Bella, and Hamlet and Ophelia.

I will imagine your handsome visage beneath your plumed hat as you prepare for your country’s fête nationale.

Nuzzles and Purrs from Mlle Daisy Emerald. purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr xo.

Somewhere out there...
Somewhere out there…

Giuseppe sings at the big north window regularly to serenade his French-Canadian love, Mlle. Daisy Emerald Marguerite, sure that his tidings travel magically to the north and across the lake to Steeltown North. But today he adds a special greeting to all Canadians, who he loves because they are all Canadians like Mlle. and her human mama. “Bonne fête du Canada!” he sings, and tries his best at “O, Canada”, and he dreams of how romantic it would be to travel north and sail across the lake in a tall ship with his elegant lady by his side…surely there’s an opera about that!

Read about Mlle. Daisy Emerald and the long-distance affaire between the mature French-Canadian feline lady and the young American opera star.

They so enjoy writing florid Victorian-style letters to each other, sometimes the poets, sometimes the artists, sometimes the bonneted Mlle. Daisy Emerald and the beplumed Giuseppe Verdi in their Revolutionary roles.
