Adopted! Silver Goes Home!

Tyrelle with Silver.
Tyrelle with Silver.

We’re still shaking our heads and saying we wish all the rescues and adoptions were this easy. Peg fostered Silver—and had a very hard time not completely falling for him—and of course her neighbor and friend Denise, caretaker of two wonderful long-haired ginger cats, stopped over to visit too. Denise just happened to tell her son Tyrell who had mentioned he might want to adopt a cat.

He stopped for the meet and greet this past Saturday and it was love at first sight, Denise caught a photo of the happy moment. After spending some time together there was no question, Silver was going home with him. He packed Silver in the carrier and gathered all the cat things that came with him. The trip home was uneventful, and Silver moved in as if he’d always lived there, following his new person, lying on the bed when his human was getting ready, just a wonderful match.

We all wish this new cat daddy lots of love and luck with his new feline charge. And can’t wait to see the photo updates! Read Silver’s rescue story here.

I'm very pretty on this rug.

We are also considering Perry, the gray and white cat who often showed up with Silver. He was never around as often but he did show up once, with a brand new flea collar. Tis a puzzlement. We will be checking with yet more neighbors about him.

Can’t adopt? Foster! Can’t foster? Donate or volunteer.

There are so many ways you can help cats who need homes and care. You may not have room to adopt another cat, but can foster a cat or kitten for a few weeks. If not that, you can volunteer at a shelter or with a rescue, or donate. You do this because you love your cat, and by doing so you help all cats. No matter which of these actions you take, you help to save a life, and make life better for all cats.

  • Adopt one of the cats I’ve posted here, or from any shelter or rescue near you, or from Petfinder, to open up a space for another cat to be rescued and fostered.
  • Offer to foster cats or kittens for a shelter or rescue near you.
  • Volunteer at a shelter or rescue.
  • Find a group of volunteers who work with homeless cats and help them with their efforts.
  • Donate to a shelter or rescue near you.

If you can foster kittens or adults cats to help prepare them for a forever home, please run to your nearest shelter and find a cat who needs you! Anyone can help with this effort at any level, even if all you do is donate to a shelter or rescue so they can help to pay for the food or medications needed for their foster, or the spay/neuter/veterinary care during a clinic.

This award-winning art was inspired by working in post op at the May 25, 2014 Homeless Cat Management Team TNR clinic. I’ll make a $5.00 donation to HCMT for each poster sold to help spay and neuter more cats so there won’t be so many to rescue. Quantity discounts are available if you want a stack for a clinic or event. Read more about this artwork and purchase a print of this sketch.

    • Silver worked really hard for his forever home, being non-stop cute and nice and affectionate. He deserves what he got! Two guys, what a pair.

I am Silver’s new “Grandmom” and I just want to thank everyone for rescuing, fostering and loving this precious little ball of fur. My son Tyrelle and Silver bonded from the very first meeting and I knew that it was love at first sight. Silver has settled in quite nicely (as my son posted on Facebook, he goes to work so that he can afford to be Silver’s roommate”, lol. All joking aside, I am so beyond happy that Silver found a great forever home and that my son found an amazing little friend! Thank you again, Denise, Bernadette and Peg you are truly God’s rescue angels!

    • And thanks to Denise Trumbull too, who let us know about him and fed him until we “trapped” him. Silly guy knew just what was up and went right along with it. I can see he and Tyrelle act as if they’ve known each other all their lives. I’m so happy they have each other.

    • Nancy, it’s just amazing how it all happened. I’m not one to say things happen for a reason, but this came together as if it was all planned.

  • If only all adoptions could be this easy! Silver is a joy, and he and his human are definitely “meant to be”. Love happy endings!

    • Every once in a while it works out this way, Peg. I’m glad you could also ask Animal Advocates just in case too. Glad we didn’t need them though!
