A Mother’s Work is Never Done

Mimi caught in the act: a young Jelly Bean enjoys a bath from his mom.

I can have no pride when Mama Bernadette is on a creative rampage. We caught her digging through boxes and cartons in the entertainment center and she wouldn’t even let us help look, though you can be sure I would have gotten in her way if I had known she was looking up the photos she took when my babies were tiny. At least she didn’t choose another where I’m nursing them and my lovely figure is all distorted!

But these aren’t so bad. Sigh…I almost feel wistful.

Mimi finishes Bean’s bath while Giuseppe, in the tub, plays with her tail.

Yet here I am five years later, bathing the same young man. He looks slyly very pleased. He has a way of acting helpless that inspires all of them to give him extra attention.

Mimi took control of the situation this morning, pushed Jelly Bean down on the box, sat on him and gave him a good bath.

Happy Mother’s Day from we Creative Cats to all you cat moms and pet moms and human moms out there! Mimi will give her annual Mother’s Day plea to spay and neuter your cat tomorrow…when we share a few more rescued kittens.

See Mimi’s Mother’s Day greeting from 2012 and 2011.

My mother died in 2011, and my loss of Peaches taught me what to expect in her loss. I wrote a poem for my mother’s memorial service, which you can read on Today.

Thanks, Cats, it’s strange to say but I think my mother is happier where she is now and I wish she could have had a happier life.

We stopped in to visit you after we heard about Yoko, so if you see five black cats crashing your party, you’ll know we’ve arrived!

Thanks, Rumpydog! She’s celebrating by letting her children give her a bath…
